Analogies: find the link

Strategy card

The trick is naming the exact relationship.

  1. Step 1: Say a bridge sentence for the first pair ("A ___ is used to ___").
  2. Step 2: Plug in the third word.
  3. Step 3: Test each answer in the same sentence.
  4. Step 4: If two answers fit, make the bridge sentence more specific.

Tip: Common links: opposite, part of, used for, baby of, home of, kind of, more of.
