Rule out wrong answers
Strategy card
You can find the answer by crossing out wrong ones.
- Step 1: Look at each answer, one at a time.
- Step 2: Ask: "Does this fit?" If not, cross it out.
- Step 3: Keep going until one is left.
- Step 4: Check that last one carefully.
Tip: It's okay not to see the answer right away. Crossing out helps.
Worked example
These three go together. Which one goes with them?
- A: outlined green square (the answer)
- B: outlined blue triangle
- C: striped red hexagon
- D: green hexagon
Why: All the figures in the box have the same shape (square). Only the outlined green square has that too. The color and fill can change, so they don't matter.
