Checking AI answers
Strategy card
Treat AI answers like a classmate's work: check before you copy.
- Step 1: Solve or estimate independently first.
- Step 2: Check each step of the AI's reasoning.
- Step 3: Look for made-up facts, wrong math or claims that go too far.
- Step 4: Confirm important facts in a reliable source.
Tip: An answer can be confident, detailed and wrong all at once.
Worked example
Which conclusion is best supported?
Every time Ava waters the plant on Monday, it looks healthy by Friday. This week she forgot. On Friday, its leaves were drooping.
- A: The plant will die by next week.
- B: The plant probably needs regular water to stay healthy. (the answer)
- C: All plants need water only on Mondays.
- D: Ava never waters her plants.
Why: The pattern supports a careful conclusion about water. The others go too far or contradict the story.
